Aviva and Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 28th that they signed a business agreement to activate digital transformation business.

The signing ceremony held on the 26th at the Hyundai Heavy Industries headquarters in Ulsan was attended by Aviva Korea CEO Oh Jae-jin, Aviva R&D head Michael Halloran, and Hyundai Heavy Industries executive directors Kim Tae-hwan, Kim Jae-eul, Ahn Oh-min, and Seo Jeong-hoon.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate with each other to activate digital transformation business and expand the market by establishing smart manufacturing infrastructure such as next-generation design and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems and ‘Smart Shipyard (Digital Enterprise Shipyard)’.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Shipbuilding Division decided to build an advanced PLM system and ultimately selected Aviva's PLM solution. This Joseon PLM system is scheduled to begin construction in Phase 1 in 2020 and be completed in 2021.

Aviva will provide shipbuilding and marine industry-specific PLM solutions such as Aviva NET, Aviva ERM, Aviva Engage, and AVEVA Everything 3D to this Hyundai Heavy Industries shipbuilding PLM system construction project.

Kim Jae-eul, executive director and head of Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Shipbuilding Technology Division, said, “Hyundai Heavy Industries will complete a digital transformation optimized for the shipbuilding industry, including the development of a smart shipyard and shipbuilding-specific PLM,” and “We plan to focus on maximizing our design technology competitiveness through the establishment of a next-generation design system and enhancing our status as a global technology leader.”
