Soft grippers can be used to expand automation to areas where hygiene is important, such as cosmetics or pharmaceuticals, which handle bottles or irregularly shaped containers that hold these items, as well as food and beverage industries such as eggs, fruits, and beverages.
OnRobot's soft gripper consists of three interchangeable silicone molded cups and four fingers, and can delicately and precisely pick up objects weighing up to 2.2 kg. Additionally, it offers a grip range of 10-118mm depending on the cup used.
It is FDA 21 CFR and EC 1935/2004 certified for handling non-greasy foodstuffs and, unlike conventional vacuum grippers, does not require an external air supply, reducing both cost and complexity.
“The soft gripper can be integrated into most collaborative and lightweight industrial robots via OnRobot’s One System Solution,” said Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot.
The One System Solution is a platform that provides a mechanical and electrical interface for all of OnRobot’s End-Of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) products to numerous robot arms worldwide. Recently, integration capabilities have been added with several robot companies, including Hanwha Precision Machinery and ABB Robotics.
