EZ-WHEEL Collaboration, Cost Savings and Flexible Application
GrAI Matter Labs (GML), a leader in computing solutions that mimic the working principles of the human brain, is developing a wheel drive for AI autonomous robots, aiming to provide a solution that can be applied flexibly to various areas while reducing costs.
GML announced on the 1st that it will collaborate with French autonomous electric wheel specialist ez-Wheel to develop an 'AI powered Wheel Drive' for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), aiming for commercialization in 2023.
The EasyWheel solution, when combined with GML’s ‘Life-Ready AI’, will provide a safety-certified mobile robot platform capable of smart functions such as people tracking and obstacle avoidance, which will have a significant impact on the logistics and supply chain industries.
Adding a ‘smart’ wheel with optimal integration of motor, battery, electronics and artificial intelligence inside the core provides a quick and easy way to turn a safety-compliant mobile robot into a cost-effective solution that can be flexibly applied in a variety of deployments.
GML and Easywheel will be presenting at 'Vision/Motek-2021' held in Stuttgart, Germany from October 5th.rsquo; will showcase the 'AI-powered wheel drive' at the trade fair.
GML will exhibit its ‘Life-Ready AI’ integrated into a mobile robot, while Easywheel will exhibit its ‘SWD® Starter Kit’ equipped with its stable certified AMR development platform.
“Our collaboration with EasyWheel allows us to focus on robots suitable for Industry 4.0 and meet the immediate needs of today’s industry,” says Christian Verbrugge, Business Development Director at GML Europe. “This opens the door to a new era of collaborative mobile robotics, using GML’s ‘life-ready AI’ GrAL VIP chip, a cutting-edge computing architecture never before seen in such applications.”
Antoine JUAN, CEO of EasyWheel, is excited about the collaboration between the two companies. “This exciting collaboration with GML is a powerful addition to our new SWD® Safety Wheel Drive family of products with unprecedented capabilities in the drive solutions industry. An extension of our safety-certified platform for mobile robots, the AI-Driven Wheel Drive will provide the robotics industry with a powerful and versatile hardware toolkit to accelerate the development of smart features such as people following, fixed infrastructure recognition, obstacle trajectory prediction, and path optimization, among others. The low power consumption along with the cost-effective architecture will make the AI-Driven Wheel Power a game-changer for the industry,” said JUAN.
