Schneider Electric Korea held a technology conference for customers in the semiconductor, battery, and display industries and presented solutions for achieving operational efficiency and sustainability based on digital innovation.
Schneider announced that it held the technology conference 'Innovation Day: Digital Transformation of Factories and Equipment' at COEX and an online platform on the 20th. The event was attended by approximately 700 customers and partners from the semiconductor, battery and display industries, both online and offline.
Schneider Electric Korea CEO Kim Kyung-rok emphasized the need to build sustainable industrial sites through electric energy and digitalization.
The common session held in the morning was an essential session for building a sustainable industrial site, including △improvement plans for power quality, △introduction of a fire monitoring and prevention platform to prevent major disasters, and △actual application cases of automated machine solution projects.
In the afternoon, a technology strategy session was held in a two-track format tailored to participating companies such as semiconductor, battery and display companies and equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Manager Song Yeon-ok, who presented 'Transition to Edge Computing through Application of Latest Industrial PCs and SCADA Solutions' at the equipment manufacturer session, said that in terms of edge computing, industrial PCs are a market that is growing at an annual rate of more than 5% in Korea, and that they are beginning to be introduced for efficient management due to the large-scale data generation at production sites.
The reasons why IPC is needed in semiconductors, batteries, and FPD are: △precision work and manufacturing △processing a lot of data △connection between OT and IT △control of redundant and increasing PC base △maintenance of domestic and overseas factories △response to requests for customization to suit one's environment.
Schneider supports industrial PCs that help shorten deployment times through smart design and engineering for edge computing. Its flexible modular structure, turnkey management, and remote end-to-end management provide a successful transition to edge computing.

Schneider then introduced industrial control panel regulations along with global trends for ESG management and RE100 achievement. In addition, it proposed a network security architecture for implementing smart factories that are safe from cyber threats with Fortinet, a global network security leader.
IoT-based motor starter TeSys Island smart equipment, design tools for optimizing motor solutions, methods and application cases for combining machine PLC and remote I/O systems, and digital low-voltage power technology incorporating IoT functions were also introduced.
The exhibition space showcased 33 products and solutions that applied the latest technology. The four categories are: △Integrated power solutions that support resilience, △Energy optimization solutions that support sustainability, △Smart manufacturing solutions that support production efficiency, and △Software-based automation solutions that support operational efficiency.
This technology conference is expected to provide relevant professionals with an opportunity to experience Schneider’s manufacturing and facility sites with the equipment and solutions needed for energy management, factory automation, and efficient power operation.
Schneider Electric Korea CEO Kim Kyung-rok said, “The semiconductor and battery industries are essential elements in the 4th industrial revolution and are leading the development of Korean industry. Schneider Electric said, “We will continue to provide a venue for communication and technology sharing with customers to drive digital innovation and sustainability in changing industrial settings.”
