Moxa, a leader in industrial communications and networking, has released the world’s first IEC 62443-4-2 host equipment certified industrial computer, addressing security concerns for industrial IoT devices.

Moxa announced on the 8th that it is now offering the world’s first IEC 62443-4-2 certified host device, the UC-8200 Series Arm-based computer, along with the latest MIL3 (Moxa Industrial Linux 3) platform.

The UC-8200, an ultra-slim computer measuring just 4cm, provides a security-enabled Linux platform that integrates hardware and software features based on a secure design that has obtained IEC 62443-4-2 certification to protect IIoT data and infrastructure from cyber threats.

“Moxa’s UC-8200 Series running on a MIL3 platform is the world’s first host device to achieve ISA/IEC 62442-4-2 certification,” said Pascal LeRay, Director of Cybersecurity at Bureau Veritas, the global certification authority that issued the ISASecure CSA Security Level 2 certification for the UC-8200 industrial computer.

Meanwhile, the UC-8200 series is developed in accordance with the IEC 62443-4-1 standard and complies with the IEC 62443-4-2 security level 2 standard for industrial cybersecurity.

It also provides IEC 62443-4-2 compliant diagnostic tools and security hardening guides, and provides reliability and high availability with failover through automatic switching between Wi-Fi, cellular, and Ethernet.

It has the ability to prevent malicious software attacks or tampering through TPM 2.0 for automatic system failover and hardware RoT authentication for system recovery and file backup.

It comes with host-based intrusion detection system (HIDS) and network security monitoring, an additional Mini PCI Express (mPCIe) slot for optional embedded cellular and Wi-Fi modules, and Moxa Industrial Linux 3 (MIL3) with 10-year long-term support.
