Introduction of a plan to build a smart factory based on a 5G specialized network

2023 IIoT Innovation Day , March 10th, COEX Grand Ballroom 103

e4ds news has prepared a space to look at the latest trends in smart manufacturing and its outlook for this year, and to present 5G-based IIoT solutions.

The 2023 IIoT Innovation Day will be held on March 10th from 10:00 AM to 3:10 PM in Grand Ballroom 103, COEX Conference Room.

This event will be held as a side event of the Smart Factory and Automation Industry Exhibition held at COEX from March 8th to 10th.

The first presentation will be by Park Han-goo, Honorary Chairman of the Korea Industry 4.0 Association (former Director of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team) on ‘Smart Manufacturing Industry Trends and Outlook for 2023.’ Director Park Han-goo examines the progress and achievements of Korea's smart manufacturing innovation from 2014 to 2022 and proposes new policies for digital transformation that will be focused on improving and developing in the future.

The second presentation will be given by Dong-Joo Park, a professor in the Department of Mobile Systems Engineering at Dankook University and the chairman of the Ecosystem Strategy Committee of the 5G Forum, on the ‘5G Specialized Network Ecosystem’. In this event, e4ds news will focus on not only 5G but also the 5G Specialized Network (Ieum 5G) that can be built by anyone in a specific area by operators. Dong-Joo Park, the chairman of the 5G Forum, will present the current status and measures of domestic application, arguing that the 5G Specialized Network policy, which has been fully implemented since 2021, can accelerate the digital transformation of the industry.

The third presentation will be by Jaeseung Shin, ETRI’s Senior Researcher, on ‘Development of 5G-based IIoT Systems and Service Verification for Smart Factories.’ He will present how the main characteristics and special features of 5G can be utilized in industrial settings, focusing on actual service verification cases conducted by domestic researchers.

Next, Lee Soon-yeol, the head of the ITOO Industrial Intelligence Research Institute, will give a presentation on the topic of ‘Smart Factories Utilizing 5G Technology.’ It is expected that the presentation will be helpful for field introduction by focusing on case studies.

Lastly, Ericsson-LG Team Leader Kang Ji-hoon will present ‘5G Specialized Network Construction Solution and Application Case Proposal for Developers.’ Introducing Ericsson-LG's equipment solution that allows for easy construction and management of 5G-specific networks for convergence with 5G networks.
