SUSE®, a global leader in innovative, reliable, and secure enterprise-grade open source solutions, has updated its Kubernetes management platform, Rancher, to the latest version, driving ecosystem adoption with improved scalability and enhanced security.

SUSE® announced on the 19th that it has released Rancher 2.7.2.

The latest update includes scalability enhancements designed to drive stronger ecosystem adoption.

SUSE also extended the enterprise value of its open source commercial subscriptions to Rancher with the latest release of Rancher Prime, delivered updates to popular open source projects like Rancher Desktop, and relaunched its free training portal, Rancher Academy.

The new Rancher UI extension framework separates UI functionality from the Rancher Manager, giving users the ability to independently extend and enhance the Rancher UI. This allows users to build on top of the Rancher platform and build custom, peer-developed, or Rancher-developed UI extensions to better integrate Rancher into their environment.

The new rancher can use three rancher development extensions:

First, the Kubewarden Extension provides a comprehensive way to manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes policies across your Rancher cluster.

Elemental Extensions provides operators with the ability to manage cloud-native OS and edge devices within the launcher platform.

Harvester Extension is a feature that allows operators to load virtualized Harvester clusters into the rancher for easy management and inspection.

SUSE's commitment to open source innovation doesn't stop with Rancher.

Looking at the latest update, Rancher Desktop 1.8 now includes configurable application behaviors like auto-start login and all application settings configurable via the command line tool rdctl and new experimental updates.

Additionally, Kubewarden 1.6.0 enables DevSecOps teams to write Policy as Code using both traditional programming languages and domain-specific languages.

Opni 0.9 has several observability feature updates as it approaches GA, planned for later this year.

S3GW (S3 Gateway) 0.14.0 has new features such as lifecycle management, object locking and holding, and UI improvements.

Epinio 1.7 has a Dex integration UI, an identity service that uses OpenID for drive authentication for other apps and SUSE's S3GW. Connect.
