Schneider Electric Korea (Korea Branch CEO Kyung-Rok Kim), a global company leading the digital transformation of energy management and automation, announced the domestic finalist of 'Go Green 2023', a global competition to discover bold, sustainable, and smart ideas for the future, and is supporting them with domestic internship opportunities and participation in the East Asian finals.
Schneider announced on the 14th that the 'Choux' team (Heeji Choi, Seunghee Hong, Kwonmin Bok, and Yujin Seong) who implemented an idea on the topic of 'Increasing energy efficiency of buildings or hotels' won the domestic grand prize in the recently held 'GoGreen 2023' contest.
This year, GoGreen, which is in its 13th year, was held for university and graduate students under the theme of ‘sustainability through energy efficiency and resource circulation of buildings.’
A total of 83 students participated in this contest, and through fierce competition, 3 teams (total of 10 students) advanced to the national finals.
The domestic finals were judged by a panel of judges consisting of Schneider Electric Korea CEO Kyung-Rok Kim and executives, and the final winners were selected based on the following criteria: △Understanding of customers (15%), △Innovativeness of solutions (25%), △Eco-friendly impact (25%), and △Financial feasibility (35%).
The Choux team, which won the domestic final, proposed a solution for building a smart hotel by linking Schneider Electric's IoT-based solution, 'EcoStruxure', with the hotel.
Guests can check in through the application, control the temperature and humidity in their rooms through the app, and check and control energy usage through EcoStruxure.
The Choux team was credited with improving the hotel's energy efficiency by offering financial incentives based on energy usage to reduce carbon emissions.
The domestic winning team will be awarded a final prize of 2 million won and an internship opportunity, and will be provided with mentoring from Schneider Electric experts during the process of advancing to and preparing for the East Asian finals to be held in September.
Kyung-Rok Kim, CEO of Schneider Electric Korea, said, “For the past 13 years, Schneider Electric has provided opportunities for future talents to freely propose bold ideas through Go Green and for them to grow into feasible ideas,” and explained, “It was a meaningful time this year as well with the participation of talented individuals with outstanding capabilities. This year’s winning team analyzed the hotel’s energy efficiency from various perspectives from the guests’ perspective and presented a solution that evenly reflected the possibility of feasibility.”
