User-friendly configuration provides visualized information and notifications such as ship operation, route, and speed.
Schneider Electric (Korea Branch Representative Kim Kyung-rok), a global company leading the digital transformation in energy management and automation, has launched a new HMI product, 'ST6000T', which has obtained marine certification from 11 classification societies around the world.
Ship owners are striving to make ships eco-friendly and digitalized as environmental regulations are strengthened. In order to digitalize the systems in ships, the role of HMI (Human Machine Interface), which connects various equipment and controllers to perform monitoring functions, is important. Hardware applied to ships also has high requirements that require marine certification.
The ST6000T series introduced by Schneider Electric is the first in the Pro-Pace HMI line to obtain EU RO MR (EU Recognized Organization Mutual Recognition) certification from 11 classification societies around the world. Unlike the company's existing products that have received certification from shipping companies in each country, this product has the advantage of not having to obtain marine certification from a separate country.
The ST6000T is designed with a focus on improving business productivity and efficiency, with a design featuring a full aluminum bezel and a high-visibility interface. The display shows the operator information needed for the vessel's navigation, route setting, speed, etc., and is also used to monitor engine status, route status, and environmental conditions in real time and generate alarms to enable recognition of hazardous situations.
With high connectivity via user-friendly protocols, it is easy to connect devices via multiple interfaces, and it is available in two displays, 5.7 inches and 10.4 inches, so it can be easily replaced with existing aging displays of the same size. It also has the advantage of being equipped with a standard Ethernet port, making it easy to establish IT and OT connections, and these features allow ships to reduce costs and increase energy efficiency.
Devices can be easily connected via multiple interfaces, and can also be linked with GP-Pro EX software, allowing you to utilize resources without creating new project files.
In addition, wireless communication equipment and route planning software used on ships are integrated to facilitate information exchange, and data on ship operation and safety are recorded and analyzed to help improve performance and maintenance.
“This product is Schneider Electric’s first HMI product to be certified by 11 shipping companies,” said Song Yeon-ok, manager of Schneider Electric’s Industrial Automation Business Unit Offers. Marine certification for HMIs used on ships is very strict, but the ST6000T has obtained EU RO MR certification, making it even more reliable,” he said. “In the future, Schneider Electric will continue to strive to provide customers with a wide range of choices by obtaining products and certification procedures tailored to each industrial site introducing HMI.”
Meanwhile, Schneider Electric Pro-face's HMI, which continues to be the world's best-selling product based on reliability, has acquired various marine certifications and international safety standards. The latest certification information can be found on the official website.
