AI Server Data Center Power to Increase by Up to 36% by 2028
Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Software Provider
Schneider Electric Korea, a specialist in energy management and automation, emphasized the importance of power management in data centers.
In the midst of the recent global artificial intelligence (AI) craze, power management for data centers is also emerging as an important point. According to Schneider Electric’s white paper, “The AI Disruption: Challenges and Guidance for Data Center Design,” the average annual increase rate for global data center power demand from this year to 2028 is around 11%.
It is predicted that the power demand of data centers that apply AI servers will increase by an average of 26-36% per year. This is an increase that is expected to be up to 3.3 times higher than the power demand increase rate caused by existing data centers due to the rapid spread of energy-intensive AI.
As data center power usage increases, the demand for solutions that can efficiently manage data center power is also increasing. Schneider Electric provides data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software that comprehensively monitors power used in data centers and prevents irregular power supply events.
The 'Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)' solution is software that monitors, measures, and manages data centers, and supports IT equipment, power, and cooling systems. It goes beyond the basic device monitoring level and helps data center operators understand what is happening in the data center environment, including the status of power and cooling devices.
Schneider Electric is introducing EcoStruxure IT, a DCIM 3.0 software that can create a more open data center ecosystem than existing DCIM solutions. It supports secure monitoring, management, planning, and modeling from a single IT rack to large-scale IT, on-premise, cloud, and edge.
Schneider Electric's next-generation data center management solution, 'EcoStruxure IT Expert', is a software that allows you to remotely manage your data center anytime, anywhere. It selects and analyzes data that is relevant to your purpose through a data lake collected from millions of devices connected to Schneider Electric, providing actionable and valid insights. It also enables you to quickly resolve issues with advanced cloud-based remote monitoring, ensuring the availability and high security of your infrastructure.
Schneider Electric's DCIM 3.0 software is a solution designed to perform exactly what is needed to make customers' work more convenient, with customized dashboards and reports. Enables data center managers and operators to monitor and manage IT equipment and infrastructure to prevent failures, maximize energy efficiency and capacity, and minimize carbon emissions.
Schneider Electric is also introducing 'EcoStruxure Asset Advisor', which analyzes and monitors power quality in real time. EcoStruxure Asset Advisor is a predictive maintenance solution that combines IoT and cloud-based technologies with Schneider Electric's expert pool and technical support. It provides real-time monitoring of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) required for data center operation, and immediately notifies of major accidents, and provides functions to predict and resolve problems before they occur, reducing safety risks. This prevents unexpected downtime in data centers and plays a role in reducing operational losses and maintenance costs.
Schneider Electric's power management digital solution supports mobile. Its strength is that data center managers can receive real-time status of the target they are monitoring through the web or application, and can respond quickly based on this. In addition to simply identifying problems that have occurred, data analysis provided by Schneider Electric can also identify the cause of the problem.
“With the growth of AI, demand for power management solutions for data centers has increased, and continuous power monitoring is essential for stable data center operation,” said Choi Sung-hwan, head of the Secure Power division at Schneider Electric Korea. “Schneider Electric is proposing the optimal digital solution that can increase the efficiency of data center management and operation.”
