“It is necessary to build a digital platform that increases the circularity of the battery ecosystem.”
Schneider Electric Korea (Kim Kyung-rok, CEO of Korea Branch), a global company leading the digital innovation in energy management and automation, held a press conference on the 6th with the theme of ‘Building an Intelligent Data Platform to Support the Circularity of the EV Battery Ecosystem’ and shared insights and solutions that will lead the future of the battery industry.
Francois VERKINDT, Leader of Schneider Electric's EV Battery Business Unit, who was in charge of the presentation that day, said that it is important to increase the circularity of the battery ecosystem by building an intelligent digital platform, and introduced Schneider Electric's digital twin solution along with the need for digitalization in line with the growth of the battery ecosystem.
François Berkind says the global EV battery market continues to grow rapidly, with the entire lithium-ion battery chain expected to grow by more than 30% annually from 2022 to 2030, reaching a total value of more than $400 billion and a market size of more than 4.7 TWh (terawatt-hours), according to a 2022 analysis by the McKinsey Battery Insights team.It was revealed that it is expected to happen.
In addition, with the introduction of the Battery Passport system scheduled to be implemented from 2026, the importance of using data platforms across the entire battery value chain is increasing, he said. He added that data platforms can integrate and analyze data related to battery production and use to efficiently manage resources, thereby helping to minimize waste of resources and increase battery recycling rates.
“With the demand for EV batteries growing rapidly, the battery industry’s top priority today is to rapidly expand the battery value chain in a sustainable, circular and responsible manner,” said François Berkind. “Schneider Electric is enabling scalability and supporting manufacturing excellence across battery manufacturing through its digital thread. “It is important to optimize manufacturing processes using real-time data that is relevant to the situation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Schneider Electric Korea will participate in 'InterBattery 2024', the largest battery industry exhibition in Korea, held at COEX in Seoul from March 6 to 8.
At this year's InterBattery 2024 exhibition, we will present a booth divided into four zones based on the concept of 'Zero Impact Smart GIGA Factory'.
At the booth, you can see everything from Schneider Electric's green solutions that reduce energy consumption through real-time data analysis to cutting-edge automation solutions that automate production processes based on robotics technology to create a highly profitable manufacturing environment.
In addition, inside the booth, on-site seminars by experts will be held simultaneously on topics such as ▲North American & European market regulations and standardization measures ▲next-generation data center solutions ▲PPA contracts and power purchases ▲digital twin (DX).
Schneider Electric's booth, where you can see total solutions for optimizing the EV battery manufacturing process, is located in Hall A (A960) of the COEX exhibition center.
