Rockwell emphasizes autonomous operations based on cloud and AI
As interest in AI adoption in industrial automation grows, Rockwell Automation accelerates smart manufacturing innovation based on cloud and AI solutions.
Rockwell Automation will participate in the '2024 Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition', Asia's largest smart factory automation industry exhibition, held at COEX from March 27 to 29. Scott Wooldridge, President of Asia Pacific, introduced Rockwell Automation's latest solutions and partner collaboration products at a press conference on the 27th.
Scott Wooldridge, president of Rockwell Automation Asia Pacific, said, “Global industrial trends are changing rapidly with the emergence of new key technologies such as AI, VR/AR, robotics, and cloud. “Rockwell Automation is working closely with various Korean companies to achieve their vision for industrial automation by applying these latest technologies,” he said. “Korean manufacturers are particularly focused on introducing industrial automation solutions and strengthening their competitiveness in line with these trends. Accordingly, Rockwell Automation will contribute to the smart manufacturing innovation of manufacturers around the world, including Korea.”
Lee Yong-ha, CEO of Rockwell Automation Korea, said, “The global digital transformation market is expected to expand to a size of KRW 7.033 trillion by 2032, and the domestic smart factory market is expected to expand to a size of approximately KRW 20 trillion by 2024.” He added, “As smart factories are being built more widely in areas such as electric vehicles, batteries, semiconductors, and biotechnology, Rockwell Automation Korea will support domestic manufacturing companies in building flexible and sustainable production systems to achieve smart manufacturing innovation through digital transformation.”
Rockwell Automation is continuously strengthening not only hardware products but also software solutions. Generative AI triggers such as ChatGPT are also becoming a hot topic in industrial automation. It is explained that ChatGPT, which has advanced from traditional automation, enables rapid code generation and other things, so problems can be solved quickly without human intervention. President Scott Wooldridge said, “85% of 1,500 manufacturing companies plan to introduce AI to their manufacturing sites,” and “This trend is accelerating.”
In particular, Rockwell Automation emphasizes autonomous operation. Autonomous operation is a concept that improves automation capabilities and is easy to use in an adaptive manner. Rockwell Automation said, "By embedding AI in all technologies, we can shorten engineering time through autonomous setup and configuration, and optimize without human intervention. We can also optimize productivity quality, and optimize energy and raw material usage through algorithms."
“The automated factory of the future will be able to learn and optimize itself, just like a self-driving car,” said Scott Aldridge, president of Asia Pacific. “Rockwell Automation is using NVIDIA GPUs to collect and analyze factory quality data and optimize logistics to achieve autonomous operations.”
In addition, Rockwell Automation offers the advantage of being able to comprehensively monitor the supply chain from the edge to the cloud, ensure ERP continuity by utilizing AI and the cloud embedded in all devices, and manage the field at once. Among these, Rockwell Automation is investing more heavily in cloud solutions.
We also emphasized strong cyber infrastructure investment for cloud and AI adoption. We operate monitoring facilities worldwide to directly service our clients’ projects through 6,000 engineers and help with direct system deployment.
Meanwhile, at this exhibition, Rockwell Automation will introduce solutions and products divided into four themes under the slogan 'Results Achieved' that has been in place since last year. We will showcase a variety of products and solutions related to Optimize Productivity, Empower People, Accelerate Digital Transformation, and Drive Sustainability, centered around newly launched cloud software solutions.
At the exhibition site, you can directly see various global success stories utilizing Rockwell Automation solutions. In the partner zone, products developed through collaboration with Doosan Robotics, a specialized industrial robot manufacturing company, through a partnership last year will be showcased. In addition, an AI analysis platform based on production site data will be introduced together with MakinaRocks, a domestic enterprise AI company with which we recently signed a strategic partnership.
