3D Experience Platform Integration, Strengthening Digital Product Development Capabilities
Dassault Systèmes announced a ten-year collaboration with RWTH Aachen University of Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, to jointly run an educational program to train future engineering professionals.
Through this collaboration, RWTH Aachen University’s Institute of Mechanical Components and Systems Engineering (MSE) will introduce Dassault Systèmes’ cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform into its curriculum for 13,000 mechanical engineering students.
This will enable students to acquire cutting-edge model-based systems engineering (MBSE) technologies through hands-on learning and enhance their digital product development capabilities.
RWTH Aachen University aims to train future engineers as model-based systems engineering experts using cutting-edge Virtual Twin applications. Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform connects modeling with physical simulation and AI-based analytics, providing full data traceability and collaboration throughout the product development process.
Through this program, students will be able to acquire skills that can be immediately applied in various industries such as automobiles, aviation, medical, electronics, and software systems, and are expected to grow into talents who will lead digital innovation in companies.
“Engineers skilled in MBSE technology are essential for the smooth development of AI-based digital products,” said Professor Georg Jacobs, Director of the MSE Institute at RWTH Aachen University. “This partnership is the largest-scale collaboration to date at RWTH Aachen University, one of the top technical universities in Europe, and will strengthen our capacity for industrial innovation.”
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is playing a key role in the development of autonomous vehicles, aircraft, medical devices, and complex electronic and software systems, and talent that utilizes it is considered a key element in gaining an edge in regulated and competitive markets.
“Systems engineering is an essential skill for industrial innovation in the generative economy,” said Valerie Ferret, Vice President of Educational Experience at Dassault Systèmes. “Through our collaboration with RWTH Aachen University, we will contribute to bridging the skills gap in Germany, increasing the employability of students, and accelerating industrial innovation.”
