In the hyper-connected era, the need for proactive cyber security response has emerged.
Security needs to be considered from the product design stage

Schneider Electric announced that it will actively respond to cybersecurity threats caused by hyper-connectivity in the smart factory era.

According to a recent report by McKinsey, a management consulting firm, more than 100 billion codes are created each year, and hackers create 120 million new malicious codes each year. Market research firm Gartner also said that 60% of digital businesses will experience failure in managing digital lists by 2020. This shows that cybersecurity issues have emerged as an essential task worldwide.

In Korea’s industrial sites, the need to build more intelligent and predictive maintenance systems is also emerging to build smart factories based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). As connectivity is strengthened, the importance of establishing standards for cybersecurity and developing related technologies has increased.

Accordingly, Schneider considers cybersecurity as a core issue for the company and takes cybersecurity into consideration from the design stage to operation. Based on the convergence of IT and OT domains, Schneider Electric’s integrated architecture platform, EcoStruxure, takes a layered approach at every layer.

Schneider has been working to strengthen security by establishing a cybersecurity team in 2006 and is compliant with European standards. Based on the security levels set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), security is considered from the initial design stage of the product.

Kyung-Rok Kim, CEO of Schneider Electric Korea, said, "July is a month when issues related to information protection created through digital data, such as Information Protection Day, are focused. In a hyper-connected society advanced through IoT, cybersecurity is not something that can be controlled and blocked by a single company. Schneider is pursuing cybersecurity at all levels of EcoStruxure, and will continue to strive to establish a security system that customers can trust through its global network in the future."
