The Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association has started a six-month education and training course covering the entire range of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure for employees of automobile maintenance and charging companies.

The Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association (Chairman Kim Pil-soo, Professor of Future Automobile Engineering at Daerim University) announced on the 18th that it held the '2023 Private Autonomous Work-Study Parallel Discussion' on the 13th.

This meeting was attended by officials from the Gyeonggi Eastern Branch of the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Industry, instructors from each sector, and representatives of participating companies.

The training course fields that started as a pilot project of the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Industry from 2022 to 2023 are △Electric vehicle high-voltage safety training and electric vehicle structure science through electric vehicle disassembly/assembly, fault diagnosis, and maintenance practice for employees of automobile maintenance companies, and △Safety management of electric vehicle charging facilities, △Design and manufacture of electric vehicle chargers, △Establishment and operation of charging facilities, etc. for employees of electric vehicle charging companies. They will start sequentially from April 15 and run for more than 6 months (300 hours).

According to the Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association, although they have operated short-term training courses in the past, this is the first time that they are conducting education and training courses covering electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in general.

The work-study program is available to employees who have been employed for less than 2 years. Although it is difficult to find subjects in the automobile maintenance field due to the limited number of subjects, it is expected that approximately 100 people from 30 companies will participate in this education and training.

In particular, the advantage of the private autonomous work-study program is that, rather than the standardized training courses that have been in place so far, companies can select the jobs they need from the competency units of the National Competency Standards (NCS) and develop a training course to provide training that is suitable for the field.

In addition, after completing this education and training, you will also be able to obtain qualifications through an external evaluation, so it is like killing two birds with one stone.

The Gyeonggi Eastern Branch of the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Industry stated that although many maintenance companies are interested in electric vehicle maintenance training, they are unable to find suitable training courses and joint training centers. They stated that through this meeting, they plan to visit local companies together with the Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association to actively promote the program and open and operate various training courses that fit the situations of each company.

The Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association, designated as a private autonomous joint training center for work-study, has been working to improve the quality of electric vehicle education and training through its affiliated educational institution, the Future Automobile Human Resources Development Institute. In addition to practical training, it has also lent electric vehicles to each company free of charge along with maintenance instructions as teaching materials, thereby ensuring that actual vehicle disassembly and assembly training is repeatedly conducted during the OJT process conducted on site. In addition, thorough high-voltage safety training is scheduled to be conducted at OFF-JT to ensure high-voltage safety that may occur during the practical training process.

The Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association is the first in Korea to publish electric vehicle safety education, as well as fault diagnosis and maintenance practice textbooks, and is using them in education and training courses. It has also been selected as an organization to develop electric vehicle maintenance learning modules to be used in all domestic education and training institutions, including specialized ones.
