Wet/dry recycling of electric vehicle waste batteries, sharing manufacturing processes and cases
Announcement of safety inspection system and response standards for reusable batteries scheduled to be implemented on October 19

The Industrial Education Research Institute is organizing a forum to share related technologies and strategies as many companies in various fields, from global battery companies to material companies, regardless of domestic or international, are entering the new business of recycling and reusing (remanufacturing) electric vehicle batteries.

The Industrial Education Research Institute announced that it will hold the “EV Battery Recycle and Reuse Seminar 2023” both online and offline on Friday, September 8.

This seminar will begin with an analysis of the integrated management system for the collection, distribution, and utilization of electric vehicle waste batteries, as well as safety standards and certification status, and will share various information ranging from the manufacturing process and cases of wet, dry, pre-processing, and post-processing of electric vehicle waste batteries, to research and development of technologies for recycling and reuse (remanufacturing) of electric vehicle waste batteries, demonstration cases, and business strategies.

The seminar topics are: △Current status and future outlook of the integrated management system analysis for electric vehicle waste battery recovery, distribution, and utilization △Current status and evaluation and certification status of electric vehicle battery safety standards △Safety inspection system and response standards for reused batteries scheduled to be implemented on October 19, 2023 △Current status and future of the wet refining process for recycling automobile waste batteries △Pretreatment process technology for recycling electric vehicle waste lithium-ion batteries △Jaeyoungtaek's (社) case study of electric vehicle waste battery recycling technology development and business strategy △Case study of electric vehicle waste battery reuse-remanufacturing technology development and business strategy, etc., and presentations will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:50 PM.

An official from the Industrial Education and Research Institute said, “It is expected that the disposal of used batteries will cross from 75% recycling and 25% reuse in 2022, and then reverse to 45% recycling and 55% reuse around 2030.” He added, “Through this seminar, we plan to provide the latest management system and safety standards and evaluation in the field of electric vehicle recycling and reuse (remanufacturing), as well as technology trends, research directions, and know-how, as well as market information that forecasts future industry trends.”
