A total of 48 awards including industrial packaging and 'Hydrogen Day' designated as a legal commemorative day The Hydrogen Convergence Alliance (H2KOREA) held a meaningful 2nd Hydrogen Day event, including awarding government awards to individuals, companies, and organizations that contributed to activating the hydrogen economy.
H2KOREA held a 'Hydrogen Day' event on the 2nd at the 63 Convention Center in Seoul to build social consensus on the importance of the hydrogen economy and encourage hydrogen industry professionals.
At the event, corporate and institutional personnel received a total of 48 awards, including industrial medals, amid congratulations from many people, including their families.

Lee Jeong-bin, CEO of Wonil TNI Co., Ltd., said, “Hydrogen storage alloy Koo Young-mo, head of the Korea Automobile Research Institute, received the Industrial Service Medal for his achievements, including “100% domestic production success,” and “66 domestic and international patents related to hydrogen, and technical guidance for 92 cases in 68 companies.”
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province received a Presidential Citation in recognition of its ‘Establishment of a 3MW Green Hydrogen Production Base and Charging Station’ and ‘Launch of a Demonstration Project for the Largest 12.5MW Green Hydrogen Production Base in Asia’, while Kang Young-taek, the head of the Changwon Industrial Promotion Agency, received a Prime Minister’s Citation for ‘Overseeing the Construction and Operation of a Total of 9 Hydrogen Charging Stations’.
In addition, 44 awards were presented with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy's commendation and the winning works from the 'Hydrogen Energy Knowledge Contest'.
This event was held with the attendance of approximately 300 people, including Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kang Kyung-sung, industry, academia and research representatives, and executives and staff members.
This event, now in its second year, has been promoted by the public and private sectors to raise public awareness and acceptance of the hydrogen economy, with November 2nd designated as Hydrogen Day.
In particular, the 'Partial Amendment to the Act on Promotion of Hydrogen Economy and Hydrogen Safety Management' passed the National Assembly plenary session last month, and Hydrogen Day will be designated and operated as a statutory commemorative day starting in 2024.
In his congratulatory remarks, Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung emphasized, “The fact that our country’s hydrogen industry, including hydrogen cars and hydrogen fuel cell power generation, is highly competitive in the global market is thanks to the hard work of hydrogen industry workers who have challenged themselves to pioneer new business areas,” and “This government, following the previous government, will actively foster the hydrogen economy to respond to climate change and create new energy industries.”
