Inter-ministerial project to lay the foundation for commercialization of Lv4 autonomous vehicles by 2027
The term of office for the business unit director is 3 years initially, with the possibility of extension in 2-year increments based on evaluation.

The recruitment of a project manager to lead the 'Autonomous Driving Technology Development Innovation Project' jointly promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the National Police Agency has begun.

The autonomous driving technology development innovation project, which will be implemented with a total project cost of KRW 938.5 billion (KRW 805.6 billion from the government and KRW 132.9 billion from the private sector) until 2027, is a pan-governmental project to lay the foundation for the commercialization of level 4 autonomous vehicles in 2027. It aims to discover and foster autonomous driving convergence new industries by developing new technologies and services for the convergence of automobiles, ICT, and road traffic, improving laws and systems, and establishing an ecosystem foundation through standardization.

The qualifications for support from the business unit director are not subject to participation restrictions according to the ‘Enforcement Decree of the National Research and Development Innovation Act’.Also, it must not fall under any of the provisions of Article 33, Paragraph 1 of the National Civil Service Act.

In addition, as an industry-academia-research expert with a macroscopic perspective and leadership in the autonomous driving field, one must possess not only technical expertise but also the capabilities necessary for business operation and management.

The term of office is initially three years, with a possible extension of two years based on evaluation. Concurrent employment with other positions is not permitted.

The selection process consists of three stages: △1st written evaluation, △2nd presentation evaluation, and △3rd selection of business unit leader.

In the first written evaluation, we will check for any disqualifications regarding the application requirements and any insufficient submitted materials, and select no more than three candidates based on the selection evaluation criteria.

The second presentation evaluation will be conducted through a candidate presentation and a Q&A session with the selection committee, and will consist of 10 minutes of presentation for each candidate and 20 minutes of Q&A.

The presentation should consist of the vision for the business, the business unit management plan, the business promotion strategy and plan, and the individual's achievements and experiences. There is no special presentation format.

The head of the business division is appointed after receiving final approval from the ministers and commissioners of the four ministries: the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the National Police Agency. If there is no qualified candidate, a re-announcement may be made.
