RTS plays a key role in radar chipset design verification stage and radar sensor module manufacturing stage
Keysight RTS supports 76 to 81 GHz automotive radar bands and provides spurious-free dynamic range
Avrobotics announced that it is using Keysight Technologies’ (Keysight) radar target simulation solution to test its 4D imaging radar chipset.
Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced on the 7th that its E8719A radar targeting solution (RTS) has been selected as a test vehicle for Avrobotics' Arbe 4D imaging radar chipset for the automotive sector.
Radar target simulation technology plays an important role in the design verification stage of radar chipsets and the manufacturing stage of radar sensor modules by accurately simulating actual targets.
The Arbe 4D radar chipset provides high-resolution azimuth and elevation imaging capabilities using a wide channel array, proprietary modulation, and wide dynamic range.
Avrobotics needed a radar target simulator with excellent millimeter wave (mmWave) performance to test its high-performance chipset with coverage from 76 to 81 GHz.
Keysight's E8719A RTS has a wide bandwidth of 5 GHz and high number of measurements supporting the 76 to 81 GHz automotive radar band required for 4D imaging radar testing.Jun's spurious-free dynamic range met these requirements.
The distributed architecture of this solution, with its small mmWave remote radio heads, enabled Avrobotics to build a mmWave anechoic chamber to perform accurate and repeatable OTA testing.
As part of this solution, Avrobotics plans to leverage Keysight’s unique U9361M Rcal receiver calibrator to perform simple, automated OTA calibrations to accelerate test setup deployment and ensure consistency across multiple test setups.
Additionally, Avrobotics will use KS8328A PathWave Test Executive for Manufacturing software to automate test programs and PM2288A PathWave Manufacturing Analytics software to gain actionable insights that can improve the overall radar module manufacturing process.
“We chose Keysight’s solution to verify our 4D imaging radar chipsets because of Keysight’s advanced simulation capabilities designed specifically for radar,” said Noam Arkind, chief technology officer at Avrobotics. “By testing our technology end-to-end from design through manufacturing using Keysight’s radar target simulation solution, Avrobotics’ chipsets provide OEMs and Tier 1s with the highest level of reliability.”
“This case study, which addresses Avrobotics’ latest test requirements, demonstrates Keysight’s commitment to our customers who work tirelessly to realize the goals of autonomous and safe driving,” said Thomas Goetzl, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Automotive and Energy Solutions business unit. “Keysight’s automotive radar test solution portfolio spans from chipset to vehicle. “Keysight is the only company to offer this solution, and this new RTS solution combines superior performance and ease of use to enable faster testing of 4D imaging radars,” he added.
