재생에너지와 여유 있는 전력 계통으로 데이터센터 최적 입지로 평가받고 있는 전남 해남에 최대 25개의 데이터센터가 한곳에 입지하는 대규모 데이터센터 집적화 단지가 조성된다.
MOU for 'Solar City Data Center Park Development Project'
A large-scale data center cluster complex with up to 25 data centers will be built in Haenam, Jeollanam-do, which is considered the optimal location for data centers due to its renewable energy and ample power grid.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy signed a business agreement (MOU) for the promotion of a data center park construction project in Solar City, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, Haenam-gun, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Jeonnam Development Corporation, and 7 investment companies including Samsung C&T, LG CNS, NH Investment & Securities, Boseong Industrial, TGK Co., Ltd., Korea DRD, and Deus Systems at the Solar City Promotion Center in Haenam.
At this MOU signing ceremony, Jeollanam-do and Jeollanam-do Development Corporation agreed to support the supply of renewable energy to data centers, and the seven investment companies announced plans to build a data center cluster in Solar City, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do and gradually attract 25 data centers with a capacity of 40 MW by 2037.
Lee Ho-hyun, the director of power policy, who attended the signing ceremony, said, “We welcome the investment in the Solar City Data Center Park construction project,” and “The government will also not spare policy support, including power supply and administrative support, by forming a support task force (TF) with KEPCO and South Jeolla Province to enable data centers to be distributed more smoothly to local areas.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is smoothly implementing the 'Measures to Alleviate Data Center Concentration in the Metropolitan Area' announced at the Ministerial Meeting on Current Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister on March 9, and plans to more systematically promote measures to decentralize data centers to local areas through the power system impact assessment system included in the Special Act on Activation of Distributed Energy enacted on June 13.
