▲Samsung Electronics' Key Sharing Technologies in 2024
Applications for the 2024 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Program are accepted until August 6th
Samsung Electronics is sharing 231 patents, including those for wearable robots, with small and medium-sized companies.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Deok-geun) announced on the 24th that it will disclose shared technologies through the '2024 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Notice' and accept applications from companies from June 25 to August 6.
This sharing of technologies is a selection of 231 patents among the technologies owned by Samsung Electronics that are expected to have high utility value if provided to our small and medium-sized enterprises.
Technology sharing is a project that has been in place since 2013 to support the technological competitiveness and innovative growth of small and medium-sized enterprises by transferring unused technologies held by large corporations and public institutions to small and medium-sized enterprises free of charge.
Looking at the key technologies provided for this sharing, there are patents for a 'wearable robot' that measures signals from the wearer's scalp to calculate the current walking speed and calculates and outputs an assist torque to achieve the target walking speed, as well as a 'display device' that moves objects on a flexible display screen to execute app functions simply by the user's screen bending motion.
Samsung Electronics, which has participated in technology sharing every year since 2015, has transferred 1,014 technologies to 559 companies free of charge as of last year, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.ddot; We are actively practicing joint growth with mid-sized companies.
Keyword Lab, which received image reflection removal technology from Samsung Electronics in 2020, developed a new camera lens module product using the technology, and achieved sales of 510 million won in 2023 through overseas exports and created 8 new jobs. It is considered an excellent example of Samsung Electronics' technology sharing.
Applications for sharing can be made through the application homepage (www.tech-storm.io/techshare), and sharing targets will be selected after review. A ‘Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing On-Site Briefing Session’ for small and medium-sized enterprises interested in sharing will also be held on July 16 at the Yangjae L Tower in Seoul.
Lee Min-woo, the director of the Industrial Technology Convergence Policy Bureau, said, “If companies utilize the excellent technologies provided as shared technology in areas such as mobile devices, displays, and medical devices, they can efficiently develop new products and technologies by converging them with the technologies they currently possess.” He added, “We hope that small and medium-sized companies that want to practice open innovation through the transfer of excellent technologies will actively apply.”
