ST Launches 4Mbit EEPROM Memory Chip for Small Devices

ST Launches Industry's First 4Mb EEPROM
1 billion memory read/write cycles
Uses serial SPI bus communication method



STMicroelectronics on the 25th launched an EEPROM memory chip that provides 4Mbit (megabit) storage capacity.

The ST M95M04 EEPROM memory uses the serial SPI bus as its communication method. This high-capacity, high-speed processing capability helps in data logging functions in devices such as smart meters and patient data management in portable medical devices.

Due to its low power consumption, it can be widely used in smart wearables to extend the battery operating time. It can also be used in various applications in industrial control and communication infrastructure such as network switches.

ST's M95M04 EEPROM provides data storage and energy efficiency for cost-sensitive applications. It can handle up to 1 billion memory read/write cycles and can write 512 bytes in 5ms.

“The industry’s first 4Mbit EEPROM device is manufactured using ST’s in-house CMOS technology,” said Benoit Rodrigues, President and General Manager of ST’s Memory Division. “It is the most advanced EEPROM device ever certified to 110nm technology.”

The M95M04 is currently sampling, with pricing starting at $2.50 for 1,000-piece quantities.
