Western Digital (WD) unveiled three NAS storage products specifically designed for small businesses and remote workers on the 28th. The three new products are the 'WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD', 'WD Red NAS HDD', and 'WD Red Pro NAS HDD'.

10GbE (Gigabit Ethernet) or faster connection speeds have become a mandatory requirement for modern NAS systems. The WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD can be used as a caching solution in NAS systems to improve performance, while the WD Red NAS HDD and WD Red Pro NAS HDD provide more storage space in the same NAS device.

The WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD offers a wide range of capacity options from 500GB to 4TB (2.5-inch form factor only) and is optimized for 10GbE networks and caching in NAS systems to provide fast access to frequently used files.

It supports OLTP databases, multi-user environments, photo rendering, 4K and 8K video editing, and more, along with the durability required for heavy read and write workloads from a 24x7 NAS.

WD Red NAS HDDs are available in capacities up to 14TB and are designed for use in up to 8-bay NAS systems. They are ideal for small business and home office NAS environments that operate 24/7, supporting up to 180TB of annual workload.

The WD Red Pro NAS HDD is designed to enhance professional NAS workloads, similar to the WD Red NAS HDD, and offers up to 14TB capacity while supporting up to 24 bays. It provides improved reliability through error recovery control based on '3D Active Balance Plus' technology and 'NASware 3.0' technology.

The WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD comes in two form factors: M.2 and 2.5 inches. For capacity options, M.2 products are available from 500GB to 2TB, and 2.5-inch products are available from 500GB to 4TB.

The M.2 WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD is priced at 120,000 won for 500GB, 245,000 won for 1TB, and 435,000 won for 2TB, and the 2.5-inch WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD is priced at 125,000 won for 500GB, 250,000 won for 1TB, 440,000 won for 2TB, and 840,000 won for 4TB.

The price of the 14TB WD Red NAS HDD is 629,000 won, and the price of the 14TB WD Red Pro NAS HDD is 769,000 won.

“Increased performance in NAS systems means more content can be transferred in a shorter period of time, enabling creators and small businesses to be more productive and productive,” said Ziv Paz, senior director of marketing for WD’s client computing business.

For the WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD, only the 2.5-inch form factor 500GB and 1TB products are currently being sold domestically, and the remaining products are scheduled to be released domestically in mid-December. The 14TB WD Red NAS HDD and WD Red Pro NAS HDD are scheduled to be released domestically in late November.
