Nordic to accelerate smart home product development
ACS Support for Amazon Device SDK
DPK will be provided and maintenance will be in progress


Nordic Semiconductor announced on the 6th that it is supporting Amazon's ACS to accelerate the development of wireless products including smart homes.

Amazon Common Software (ACS) provides a single, unified API integration layer that supports multiple Amazon SDKs and includes pre-validated and memory-optimized components for features used in common smart home products.

Amazon designed ACS to make it easy for any developer to build products using the Amazon Device SDK by providing pre-built, pre-hardened, and pre-validated software components. This accelerates integration of the Amazon Device SDK and reduces both development and maintenance costs.

Additionally, Amazon supports test tools that can be used to verify and debug ACS implementations. So developers can launch devices based on ACS using the same technology that Amazon uses in its own devices.

Nordic Semiconductor will provide and maintain a Device Porting Kit (DPK) for its wireless chips that can be integrated into ACS as one of the reference platforms. The initial DPK is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE), with support for other wireless technologies to follow in the future.
