ROHM Develops Step-Down DC/DC Converter IC with Built-in MOSFET
High-voltage industrial equipment such as 5G communication base stations and FA devices
Provides the high reliability/high functionality power performance you demand Recently, new functions utilizing AI and IoT are being installed in industrial devices including 5G communication base stations and FA devices. Accordingly, the power ICs adopted are required to not only operate in a small size and with high efficiency, but also to withstand high voltages that are not destroyed by sudden surge voltages such as lightning and to support large currents to implement various functions.
ROHM announced on the 24th that it has developed the 'BD9G500EFJ-LA, BD9F500QUZ' MOSFET-built step-down DC/DC converter IC that achieves high withstand voltage and large current characteristics for use in FA devices such as 5G communication base stations, PLCs, and inverters that handle high power. This non-isolated DC/DC converter IC employs high-voltage BiCDMOS of power system processes and was developed using ROHM's unique analog design technology, providing the power supply functions required for the latest industrial devices.

The BD9G500EFJ-LA is designed for 48V power systems, has a withstand voltage of 80V, and implements an output current of 5A with a built-in MOSFET. As a high-power compatible product, it supports high reliability/high functionality of 5G communication base stations and charging stations. Since it adopts a high heat dissipation package and operates at low heat at around 65℃, no heat countermeasures are required.
The BD9F500QUZ is designed for 24V power supply systems, adopts a thin and compact package (3.0×3.0×0.4mm), and realizes 39V withstand voltage and 5A output current. It also enables stable operation even with a 1.5µH small coil with high-speed switching of up to 2.2MHz. Therefore, it supports high functionality/miniaturization of various industrial devices including FA devices.
The two products have started mass production this month with a monthly production capacity of 100,000 units each at a sample price of 500 yen (excluding tax), and the evaluation boards for 'BD9G500EFJ-EVK-001, BD9F500QUZ-EVK-001' are being sold online. They can be purchased starting from one unit at online component distribution sites such as Chip 1 Stop and CorestaFF.
