Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors, electronic components and components, today announced that it is now stocking the MAX25530 automotive quad-channel backlight driver from Maxim Integrated. The MAX25530 integrates an I2C-controlled, quad-channel, 150mA LED backlight driver and a four-output thin-film transistor liquid-crystal display (TFT-LCD) bias supply into a single, 40-pin (6mm x 6mm) chip, reducing the footprint of automotive dashboard, center console, and navigation display designs.

It integrates one positive boost converter, one negative boost converter, two charge pump drivers for driving the TFT bias supply, and a boost/SEPIC controller for powering up to four LED strings in the display backlight.

Creating larger, higher-resolution displays requires TFT bias and LED drivers. The MAX25530 provides positive and negative analog supply voltages to support larger screen sizes and higher resolutions. Both voltages are essential for low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) panels, which offer higher resolution and lower cost than amorphous silicon panels.

Mouser offers the MAX25530 evaluation kit, a fully assembled and tested surface-mount PCB that provides a complete power management solution for automotive displays. The kit can be configured to operate in standalone or I2C mode and provides an I2C interface that can work with a MINIQUSB+ adapter board or a third-party I2C master. Windows-compatible software with a simple GUI is also included.
