Toshiba Announces 22 TXZ+ M4K/M4M MCUs
BLDC, inverter control with Arm Cortex-M4 core
Self-clock diagnostics and TXZ M4K product compatibility

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation today began production of 12 M4K group motor control MCUs as the first products in the TXZ+ series advanced class. Toshiba plans to produce 10 additional products in the M4M group in August. Both the M4K and M4M groups are manufactured using a 40nm process and belong to the TXZ4A+ series.

These products use Arm Cortex-M4 cores operating at up to 160MHz and integrate programmable motor driver A-PMD, 32-bit encoder, vector engine A-ENC, etc. Equipped with up to three high-speed and high-resolution 12-bit analog-to-digital converters, they provide solutions suitable for AC motor, brushless DC motor, and inverter control.

The M4K group devices integrate UART, SPI, and I2C as general-purpose communication interfaces, while the M4M group adds a CAN communication interface. Both groups have self-diagnosis functions for ROM, RAM, ADC, and clock, supporting IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification. Additionally, it is compatible with the existing TXZ™ series M4K group.

Toshiba provides documentation, sample software with real-world use cases, evaluation versions, and driver software that controls the interface of each peripheral. It also supports a development environment that supports diverse needs through collaboration with global Arm ecosystem partners.
