[IT 인사이트] Samsung actively commercializing Matter

Samsung Electronics will hold the 'Samsung Software Developer Conference 2022 (hereinafter referred to as 'SSDC')' for two days starting on the 15th at the Samsung Electronics Seocho building and online.
This event, held offline for the first time in three years, opened with a video opening address by Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Jong-hee Han.
Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee emphasized “Calm Technology, which naturally uses value as the best customer experience, that is, the daily life of amazing user experiences.”
Samsung Research President Seung Hyun-jun, who gave the keynote speech, introduced Samsung Electronics' advanced research and development technology. He emphasized the importance of collaboration for open innovation and said, "Samsung Electronics supports rapid collaboration with various developers who share a common goal."
Next, he briefly introduced Samsung's main technologies: △Robotics in AI △Health △SR translation △Tizen △Developer community.
Samsung has been focusing on developing a robot called Bot Handy and is sharing the robot arm operation code through the GitHub site. Samsung has released 138 open source projects.
Next, Vice President Choi Seung-beom, Managing Director Jeong Jae-yeon, Group Manager Lim Young-seok, and Managing Director Hwang Yong-ho introduced key technologies such as SmartThings, Bixby, and Security & Privacy, respectively.

Samsung's SmartThings is a platform that lets you control smart devices from Google Home or the SmartThings app. This includes support for Matter, and Samsung said it is actively participating in the commercialization of Matter.
Lim Young-seok, group leader of Samsung Electronics' MX business division, said that Bixby is expanding its scope of application to provide additional device usage experiences through voice.
Group Leader Lim said, "In the future, Bixby will be able to recognize voices in natural, everyday language as well as voice calls, and will be equipped with a text-to-phone conversion function."
Samsung Electronics Research Director Hwang Yong-ho said that security technology can customize who has access to data, and that "Samsung has configured the KNOX matrix for multi-device security to support secure connections between devices and help collaborate with external experts."

Lastly, Samsung's software developer culture was introduced. Samsung helps developers grow through cultures such as presenting attractive SW tasks, cultivating open source leaders, and Good Lock.
Meanwhile, SSDC 2022 will feature 60 sessions over two days, 18 technology exhibitions, and products commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tizen OS. Career consulting will also be available at the booth.
