As semiconductor technology supremacy has emerged as an important capability in global competition, Samsung Electronics is demonstrating management to secure technological leadership by focusing on next-generation technical talent and selecting young executives in the 2023 regular executive reshuffle.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it has conducted regular executive personnel changes for 2023, including vice presidents and managing directors. A total of 187 people were promoted, including 59 vice presidents, 107 managing directors, 2 fellows, and 19 masters, with the goal of strengthening leadership for future sustainable growth under the performance-based principle.

Samsung Electronics has strengthened its recruitment of young leaders and technology talents to boldly take on business challenges amidst the uncertain business environment caused by the global economic downturn. What is noteworthy about this personnel change is that it boldly selected people with growth potential regardless of rank or seniority, producing many young leaders, including an executive director in his 30s and a vice president in his 40s.

Vice President Moon Seong-hoon (48 years old), head of Strategic Product Development Group 1 of the MX Division of the DX Division, was highly praised for leading the development of H/W for the company's main products such as the Galaxy S series and foldable phones, contributing to the discovery of new technologies, and driving the growth of the mobile business.

Vice President Lee Jeong-won (45 years old), head of the Modem Development Team of the S.LSI Business Unit of the DS Division, is a Modem System expert who contributed to improving 5G Modem performance and enhancing Modem product competitiveness through Modem algorithm improvement and design optimization.

Bae Beom-hee, managing director of the H/W technology group of the DX division production technology research institute, was promoted in this executive reshuffle at the young age of 37. He was recognized for his contributions to strengthening the company’s technological competitiveness by securing future key technologies such as the world’s first RF signal transmission and flexible PCB, as well as publishing numerous papers and patents.

DS Division Memory Business Unit Flash PA1 Team Managing Director Lee Byeong-il, also in his 30s, was included in this list of executive promotions for his contributions to the timely development of new V-NAND products and improvement of product characteristics based on his understanding of new processes and optimization know-how as a Flash product development expert.
