ON Semiconductor, a leader in intelligent power and sensing technologies, has acquired GlobalFoundries (GF)’s New York, USA manufacturing facility, accelerating the growth and differentiation of ON Semiconductor’s power, analog and sensing technologies.

Onsemi announced on the 14th that it has successfully completed the acquisition of GF's 300mm East Fishkill (EFK) New York, USA site and manufacturing facility.

The acquisition is effective December 31, 2022. The transaction adds more than 1,000 world-class technicians and engineers to Onsemi.

Over the past three years, Onsemi has focused on securing the long-term future of the EFK facility and its employees, with significant investments of up to 300mm to accelerate the growth of the company’s power, analog and sensing products and improve its manufacturing cost structure.

The EFK fab is ON Semiconductor’s largest manufacturing facility in the United States and adds advanced CMOS capabilities to the company’s manufacturing profile, including 40nm and 65nm technology nodes with specialized processing capabilities required for image sensor production.

The transaction includes an exclusive commitment to provide GF with differentiated semiconductor solutions and for the two companies to collaborate and invest in research and development for future growth.
