STMicroelectronics is expected to help customers shorten their product launch times and reduce development costs by launching a microprocessor (MPU) that supports Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS) and offers excellent performance at speeds of up to 1 GHz at a competitive price.
ST released its latest STM32 microprocessor (MPU), the STM32MP13, on the 9th.
The new MPUs feature a 1GHz Arm® Cortex®-A7 application processing core, integrated peripherals, and innovative power-saving technologies proven in STM32 MCUs.
The STM32MP13 ensures high security for connected assets through Arm TrustZone® technology supporting a trusted firmware (TF-A and OP-TEE) secure processing environment, SCA robustness and protection features, and cryptographic acceleration with tamper resistance and secure storage.
Easy to use on industrial equipment such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) It also provides peripherals such as a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports that can be integrated.
STM32MP13 and STM32MP15 use common development tools and software. Supported software includes the most mainstream OpenSTLinux distributions with Linux Board Support Packages (BSPs), along with widely used application frameworks and secure bootchains and drivers supported by secure manufacturing.
The OpenSTLinux distribution helps reduce time to market and development costs by ensuring smooth software migration and extensibility.
The new X-LINUX-RT expansion package, available for all STM32MP13 and STM32MP15 devices, can also be used to extend the Linux real-time capabilities.
Additionally, it is competitively priced at less than $4 and has a bonding temperature of 125℃, enabling stable operation even in extreme industrial environments.
In particular, it is ST's first MPU to obtain SESIP Level 3 certification, enabling it to block even serious physical and software attacks.
“ST’s STM32MP13 single-core MPU delivers the perfect balance of power, cost, and enhanced functionality for applications that require more performance than ordinary high-end embedded microcontrollers can provide,” said Ricardo De Sa Earp, Executive Vice President, General-Purpose Microcontroller Subgroup, STMicroelectronics. “The device also features state-of-the-art security features that accelerate end-product certification to current key standards such as SESIP Level 3 and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) PTS/POI 6.0 specifications.”
