'Exynos Connect U100', optimized for mobile, battlefield, and IoT devices

Samsung Electronics has launched a low-power single-chip optimized for mobile, battlefield, and various IoT devices.
Samsung Electronics unveiled the Exynos Connect U100, a short-range wireless communication semiconductor based on UWB (Ultra-Wideband), on the 21st.
Along with this product, Samsung Electronics is introducing a new brand called 'Exynos Connect' that encompasses UWB, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi-based semiconductors, and is strengthening the competitiveness of its wireless communication semiconductor business in preparation for the advent of a hyper-connected society.
UWB is a short-range wireless communication technology that quickly transmits large amounts of information at low power across a wide frequency band. It can accurately measure the distance and location between devices within a range of several centimeters, and is attracting attention in various fields such as smart keys, smart homes, and smart factories.
The 'Exynos Connect U100' unveiled by Samsung Electronics integrates △RF (Radio Frequency), △eFlash (Embedded Flash) memory, and △power management IP (Intellectual Property) into a single chip, so it can be easily applied to miniaturized devices.
This product implements optimized power modes for each operation, allowing long-term use with a low-capacity battery. It is suitable for mobile, battlefield, and IoT devices such as tags that require liver operation.
In addition, by applying the 'Time of Arrival (ToA)' and '3D Angle of Arrival (AoA)' functions, precise distance and location measurement and direction recognition are possible even in complex environments.
This enables location tracking even indoors where GPS is difficult to use, with precise positioning within a few centimeters and less than 5 degrees, and can also be applied to virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) devices that require precise location measurement.
The 'Exynos Connect U100' also boasts excellent security performance, equipped with the STS (Scrambled Timestamp Sequence) function that prevents external hacking during communication and a secure HW encryption engine.
In addition, it supports the 'Digital Key Release 3' standard of the 'CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium)', which stores the vehicle's digital key value and shares user authentication. This allows smartphones and smart keys equipped with the 'Exynos Connect U100' to safely share and control digital key information with cars.
This product has received international certification through the certification body of the 'FiRa Consortium', which sets standards for UWB technology and verifies compatibility.
“The Exynos Connect U100 is a semiconductor that provides various location-based services through hyper-connectivity between people and things and between things, accurate direction and distance, and enhanced security,” said Kim Jun-seok, Executive Vice President of System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics. “Based on the leadership in communication semiconductor technology that we have accumulated so far, Samsung Electronics will take the lead in the short-range wireless communication semiconductor market.”
