Investing 74 billion won in display prototype production and verification
The government has launched a special exhibition at the National Museum of Korea that utilizes transparent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), opening the door to new markets for future displays such as transparent, hyper-realistic, and stretchable displays.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will utilize transparent OLED for the special exhibition of 'Eternal Journey, Special Companionship: Hieroglyphic Pottery and Tofu-decorated Pottery' from May 26 to October 9.
The display case with the transparent OLED display appears to be the same as a regular display case on the outside, but the upper glass is used as a display, and provides an animated explanation of the historical significance and background of the artifact to visitors.
Additionally, it provides a vivid exhibition experience to visitors by highlighting key relics one by one through effects such as light and dark adjustment.
Meanwhile, on the 18th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced the 'Display Industry Innovation Strategy' with the goal of regaining the world's number one position, and revealed that it plans to provide approximately KRW 74 billion over the next five years (2023-2027) for prototype production, verification, and performance testing as a stepping stone for our display industry to create new markets.
This transparent OLED demonstration is the first implementation of this plan, and the executing company will combine display technology with the museum exhibition industry to verify consumer responses to display reliability, performance, and content, and identify areas for improvement. We plan to continue to improve.
