57% willing to purchase despite price disadvantage, performance is the top priority during development
“Use IAR if you need to improve product quality or have certification requirements”
Developers using IAR solutions, a global representative IDE (Integrated Development Environment), evaluated the excellent performance of IAR solutions as their strength.
On July 13, IAR Systems held a webinar on the topic of ‘IAR’s Solutions for Embedded Software Development’ through e4ds EEWebinar.
For this webinar, e4ds news and IAR jointly conducted a survey of attendees, and 89% of attendees responded.
Looking at the main questions and answers, the strength of IAR solutions was found to be performance. 46% of respondents cited performance such as code size and build speed as advantages. Next, support for various functions was surveyed at 33%, while ease of use, technical support services, and price each accounted for 6%.

The weakness of IAR solutions was found to be the price, with 54% of respondents saying they felt burdened by the cost. This was followed by technical support services at 11%, performance at 10%, and various function support and ease of use at 9% each.
Regarding the main factors determining the embedded development environment, 42% of respondents chose performance as the most important factor. This was followed by support for various functions at 19% and price at 14%, indicating that stable and convenient functions are given priority over price in product development.
STMicroelectronics ranked first with 39% of the MCU manufacturers it mainly used. Microchip followed with 21%, and TI came in third with 15%.
In relation to whether they would recommend IAR solutions to others, 91% of respondents said they would, indicating that IAR solutions are gaining the trust of developers who use them.
Regarding the purchase intention of IAR products, 57% responded that they were willing to purchase.
Based on this survey, developers who use IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) feel burdened by the cost, but they choose IDEs that help with rapid development with a comfortable development environment, security, and enhanced performance.
An IAR representative said, “IAR solutions are used in markets that require Quality, Safety, and Security. If you have requirements for improving product quality or certification, we recommend using IAR.”
