ST는 전력소모와 디자인 및 기능 측면에서 장점이 두드러지고 커넥터가 필요하지 않은 새로운 단거리 무선 P2P(Point-to-Point) 트랜시버 IC를 출시했다고 23일 발표했다.
ST P2P Transceiver IC Supports Personal Electronics and Industrial Applications
Instant connection possible with built-in self-search function… No impact on battery life STMicroelectronics (ST) is showcasing contactless connectivity that supports both personal electronics such as wearables and industrial applications.
STMicroelectronics today announced the launch of a new short-range wireless point-to-point transceiver IC that offers significant advantages in power consumption, design, and functionality, and does not require a connector.
These ICs support consumer-friendly consumer accessories and personal electronic devices such as digital cameras, wearable devices, portable hard drives, and small game terminals.
It also solves data transmission problems in industrial applications that require rotation.
The affordable ST60A3H0 and ST60A3H1 transceivers replace cables, allowing designers to create stylish products in slim, hole-less cases that support waterproofing and convenient wireless docking.
Since the self-search function enables instant connection, power consumption for pairing is reduced and it does not affect battery life.
The IC operates in the 60GHz V-band and provides eUSB2, I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO tunneling.
br /> Power consumption is just 130mW max in eUSB Rx/Tx mode, 90mW max in UART, GPIO, and I2C modes, and a 23µW shutdown mode ensures minimal energy consumption.
These devices can exchange data at speeds of up to 480 Mbit/s, compliant with the USB 2.0 High-Speed specification, and can provide wireless connectivity with the same speed and ultra-low latency as cables.
The ST60A3H1 features an integrated antenna that simplifies final system design and is housed in a compact 3mm x 4mm VFBGA package.
The ST60A3H0 is designed to support external antenna connection, providing flexibility to address a variety of applications.
The ST60A3H0 is available with an even smaller footprint of 2.2mm x 2.6mm.
Wireless connections using these transceivers offer the advantages of isolation for safe direct current and integrity against environmental hazards such as dust and moisture in industrial environments.
The device is ideally suited for devices that require rotation, such as radar and lidar, as well as equipment such as robotic arms.
Since there is no mechanical wear, its lifespan is not limited by the number of rotations. Especially for signals with high data transmission speeds, it guarantees better reliability than slip rings, and its cost is lower than FORJ (Fiber-Optic Rotating Joint).
This transceiver is easy to use without the need to install software drivers or protocol stacks.
Not only does it provide end-user benefits, but it also helps with the manufacturing process of the product or after-sales wireless firmware loading (FOTA: Firmware Over The Air).It also helps provide faster and more efficient contactless product testing and debugging.
The ST60A3H0 and ST60A3H1 are currently in production and are supported by ST’s 10-year product longevity assurance program, ensuring long-term support and availability.
Samples are available for $5.00, and detailed technical documentation and evaluation kits and production pricing are available under a confidentiality agreement.
