STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across a broad spectrum of electronics applications, is expanding its support to help people rapidly adopt AI in everyday devices they use everywhere.

ST announced on the 19th that it is providing software libraries implemented with its flagship design tool, NanoEdgeTM AI Studio, for free and unrestricted use on all STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs).

Since NanoEdge AI Studio targets all Arm® Cortex®-M based MCUs, customers will also be able to implement and deploy highly efficient machine learning (ML) libraries, including unique on-device learning, on other Arm Cortex-M MCUs under a special license agreement.

These changes demonstrate ST’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of edge AI solutions so that more individuals and organizations can benefit from them.

NanoEdge AI Studio simplifies and accelerates ML algorithm development, facilitating anomaly detection, similarity recognition, classification, and prediction using advanced regression algorithms.

The tool has won multiple industry awards for its ability to create an ultra-small footprint ML library that can learn directly on-device, enabling predictive maintenance in complex environments.

ST, a leading player in the AI research community, has opened access to NanoEdge AI Studio across the embedded space, natively supporting most Arm Cortex-M-based MCUs available on the market, along with all STM32 MCUs.

This gives users the ability to leverage over 140 STM32 development boards, as well as over 1,000 production-ready Arm Cortex-M MCUs from other vendors, while working on their projects.

ST has also upgraded NanoEdge AI Studio to provide a new user experience that seamlessly supports users through each project creation step. The latest V4.3 version includes advanced validation tools to ensure production quality of generated algorithms.

NanoEdge AI Studio predicts the execution time of ML models for pre-selected targets with 98% accuracy, provides rich model reports, and allows users to make informed model selections.
