3x lower power consumption and 3.2x faster MIPI speed than its peers
Meet the Edge Need for Efficient Processing, Bridging , and Control Functions
“The new Lattice Nexus 2 compact FPGA platform combines enhanced connectivity, optimized power and performance, and leading security and reliability to meet the growing demand for edge applications that require efficient processing, bridging and control.”
Lattice held an online press conference on the 11th and announced the launch of new small and mid-range FPGA products.
The newly launched products are the Lattice Nexus™ 2 next-generation small FPGA platform and the first device family based on this platform, the Lattice Certus™-N2 general-purpose FPGA.
This product delivers advanced connectivity, optimized power and performance, and best-in-class security.
Nexus 2 is manufactured using TSMC's 16nm FinFET process and delivers power and thermal design efficiency, improved operating costs, and enhanced reliability with up to three times lower power consumption than comparable competing devices.
It also achieves MIPI speeds up to 3.2x faster than competing devices in its class for faster connectivity and data transfer speeds.
The form factor is up to five times smaller than competing devices, enabling efficient system design.
It combines multi-protocol 16G SERDES and PCIe® Gen 4 controllers, high-performance I/O, high-speed LPDDR4 memory interface support, and industry-leading MIPI D- and C-PHYs up to 7.98 Gbps.
Security has also been strengthened to the highest level. It provides industry-leading security through 256-bit AES-GCM and SHA3-512 and is compliant with FIPS 140-3 Level 2 standards. It can be configured faster and more securely with encryption agility, quantum-resistant support, anti-tamper protection, and integrated flash memory. It provides end-user options for customers' data-in-motion security requirements.
The Lattice Nexus 2 platform is designed to be scalable and enables rapid development of multiple new device families, and the first product based on this platform is the Lattice Certus™-N2 family of general-purpose FPGAs.
The Lattice Certus-N2 FPGA is sampling now and is supported by the latest versions of Lattice Propel™ and Lattice Radiant™ design software.
FPGAs are not limited to a single business segment and are being applied across all industrial fields. As the AI era arrives, systems must be upgraded to keep pace with the pace of development, and the differentiation of FPGAs is increasingly highlighted through in-system programmability, flexible I/O & peripheral sensors, timely release, agility, and long product life.
Meanwhile, Lattice, a FPGA specialist, continues its FPGA leadership with 10,000 customers, 35,000 licenses distributed, and a six-fold increase in partners since 2018.
Existing FPGAs have been used in factory automation, data center servers, client computing terminals, 5G battlefield devices, prosumers, and smart homes, but in the future, they are expected to continue to grow in various areas, expanding to edge AI, data center AI, connectivity from sensors to the cloud, quantum-resistant security, robotics, and humanoids.
With this new product launch, Lattice expects to meet the growing demand for edge applications that require efficient processing, bridging, and control capabilities, and to help developers rapidly develop a range of new device families.
