STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company, has released a new DC motor driver that is expected to help reduce the complexity of automotive drive design and reduce costs.
ST recently launched a new integrated full-bridge DC motor driver, the VNH9030AQ.
This product is suitable for functional safety applications and a variety of automotive applications, and provides design ease through integrated protection features and dedicated output status pins.
With an RDS(on) of 30mΩ per half-bridge leg, the VNH9030AQ can efficiently handle low- to mid-power DC motor drive applications such as door control modules, washer pumps, electric lift gates, electric trunks, and seat adjusters.
The driver offers high efficiency and features integrated current sensing circuitry to monitor current flowing through the device, reducing the number of external components while identifying each motor phase.
Additionally, it can be easily utilized in zonal controller platforms as it has very low standby power consumption.
The VNH9030AQ integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs with gate drivers, diagnostic functions, and protection against overvoltage transients, undervoltage, short-circuit conditions, and cross-conduction. />
These MOSFETs can be flexibly configured in parallel or series to meet multiple motor systems or other specific requirements.
Based on ST’s latest VIPower M09 technology, the VNH9030AQ enables efficient monolithic integration of power and logic circuits and is available in a thermally enhanced triple-pad QFN package measuring just 6mm x 6mm.
The package is designed for optimal bottom cooling and has a common pin arrangement for easy layout and software reuse.
The VNH9030AQ is currently in production and is priced at $2.48 in quantities of 1,000.
