한국반도체산업협회는 5일 열린 총회에서 송재혁 삼성전자 사장을 제14대 협회장으로 선출했다. 송 신임 협회장의 임기는 2025년 3월부터 2028년 2월까지 3년간이다.

Newly appointed Chairman Song Jae-hyeok of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association expressed his intention to strengthen communication and cooperation with member companies such as small and medium-sized enterprises, fabless, and foundries, and to further solidify the semiconductor ecosystem.
The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association elected Samsung Electronics President Song Jae-hyuk as the 14th president at its general meeting held on the 5th.
The term of office for new Chairman Song is three years, from March 2025 to February 2028.
Mr. Song Shin-im, the new chairman of the association, joined Samsung Electronics in 1996 and has served in various positions including the DRAM PA team, the Memory Manufacturing Center, and the Flash Development Lab. He is currently the CTO of the DS division and the head of the Semiconductor Research Institute. He is recognized as someone who has focused on semiconductor technology development for 30 years.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman Song stated that the semiconductor industry is facing various challenges, including intensifying global technological competition, trade risks, and labor shortages, and expressed his will to strengthen communication and cooperation with member companies and further solidify the semiconductor ecosystem to overcome these difficulties.
He also emphasized that the essence of the semiconductor industry lies in technological innovation, and stressed that the association will promote organic cooperation across the industry and expand research and development (R&D) resources to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry.
In addition, he expressed his ambition to lead sustainable growth by resolving major issues such as successful establishment of a semiconductor cluster, support for enactment of a special semiconductor law, and training of specialized personnel..
At this general meeting, the 12th association executives were newly formed along with the new association president.
A total of 38 executives were appointed, including SK Hynix President Song Hyeon-jong and DB HiTek CEO Cho Ki-seok, in various fields including semiconductor components, equipment, materials, and design, thereby strengthening the association's operating system.
The association announced its key business plan for 2025 and presented various strategies to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry in a changing global environment.
In order to respond to the rapidly changing external environment, such as the growth of China's semiconductor industry and the launch of the second term of the Trump administration in the U.S., we plan to pursue various projects to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem, including expanding semiconductor investment, responding to international trade, and nurturing human resources.
In addition, we plan to strengthen R&D support to enhance the technological competitiveness of domestic companies and actively engage in exchange activities to strengthen cooperation and networks between companies.
