Google Cloud is launching Spanner Graph, a multi-model database with intelligent features, to make it easier to develop creative AI apps and streamline customer workflows.
Google Cloud announced on the 8th that it has launched 'Spanner Graph', an innovative solution that combines purpose-built graph database functions with Google Cloud's database product, Spanner.
Currently available in preview, Spanner Graph provides customers with industry-leading availability and consistency while supporting the ability to scale to trillions of edges.
Spanner Graph is a solution for the most critical graph applications for business operations.
Spanner's transparent sharding capabilities allow it to elastically scale to very large data sets and enable massively parallel processing (MPP) of queries without user intervention.
It is also tightly integrated with Vertex AI, Google Cloud’s fully managed, integrated AI development platform.
Customers can streamline their workflows by directly accessing Vertex AI’s extensive suite of predictive and generative models via the Spanner Graph’s schema and queries.
Spanner Graph helps customers realize a wide range of possibilities.
First, we model the complex relationships between users, products, and preferences. By building a context-rich knowledge graph and combining fast graph traversal with full-text search capabilities, you can recommend products based on user queries, purchase history, preferences, and similarity to other users.
It also helps you visually represent financial entities such as accounts, transactions, and individuals, making it easier to identify suspicious transactions.
Even in large-scale social networks, we can intuitively model individuals, groups, interests, and interactions to efficiently find patterns such as common acquaintances, interests, or overlapping group memberships and provide personalized recommendations.
Games also enable efficient exploration of connections essential to game mechanics such as pathfinding, item management, and player interaction.
In terms of network security, it can track the source of attacks, assess the impact of security breaches, and correlate these results with time trends to proactively detect threats and mitigate their impact.
In addition, it takes augmented generation (RAG) to the next level by grounding the base model in a knowledge graph. Spanner Graph also supports the fusion of graph and tabular data, further enhancing AI applications with contextual information that cannot be expressed in either data format alone. It can handle large-scale knowledge graphs through excellent scalability, and it integrates built-in vector search and vertex AI to simplify generative AI workflows.
Google Cloud is launching Spanner editions, which are available in Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus editions, to help businesses choose the Spanner features that best fit their needs and budgets. The new pricing model will be a per-server billing model, and will improve cost transparency by separating compute and network replication costs.
