Lenovo ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune, capable of operating server racks of 100KW or more without special air conditioning
Lenovo has announced a new 6th generation liquid-cooling server cooling technology that is expected to reduce data center power consumption by up to 40% and help build efficient computing environments for generative AI.
Lenovo unveiled the 'ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune' at its annual global event 'Tech World 2024' held on the 15th.
The groundbreaking 6th generation Neptune liquid cooling technology, which has undergone groundbreaking innovation to usher in the era of generative AI, has been rolled out across Lenovo’s partner ecosystem.
The technology can reduce power consumption in data centers by up to 40% and help build and operate an efficient computing environment for generative AI.
At the event, Lenovo showcased the ‘Lenovo Hybrid AI Advantage with NVIDIA’ and ‘ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune’ based on its long-standing collaboration with NVIDIA.
The powerful new system leverages the ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune to support the introduction of NVIDIA Blackwell and NVIDIA NB200 to the enterprise market, and Trillian ParamiImplements the AI model in a compact design.
As AI adoption proliferates, data centers are being redesigned to handle higher heat densities.
Lenovo is pioneering the construction of data centers that can operate without separate special cooling devices for servers exceeding 100KW with the ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune and ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune. This innovation is ushering in the next generation of data centers that provide denser hardware in the AI era and redistribute cooling power.
“Lenovo has pioneered liquid cooling innovations for over a decade to expand the power of high-performance computing,” said Yuanqing Yang, Lenovo Chairman and CEO. “The ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune builds on our advanced liquid cooling engineering to bring NVIDIA Blackwell and Trillian Parameter AI everywhere, creating a new paradigm that changes how data centers use power.”
