On the 12th, KT held a seminar at the Park Hyatt in Gangnam-gu, Seoul to announce the launch of 'VMware on KT Cloud,' a new corporate cloud product.

At the event held that day, KT and VMware, the number one virtualization solution company, introduced the 'VMware on KT Cloud' service to accelerate corporate IT innovation and presented a hybrid and multi-cloud implementation plan through it.

Clouds are classified into ▲Private Cloud ▲Public Cloud ▲Hybrid Cloud depending on how they are used. Private Cloud is a closed service provided only to internal members of a specific company that uses it, while Public Cloud is an open service that is open to an unspecified number of people. Hybrid Cloud refers to a mixed service that uses the private cloud method for specific tasks and the public cloud method for other tasks. ▲Multi-cloud, which goes one step further, is a method of using public clouds and private clouds provided by two or more cloud providers to compensate for the fact that a single cloud cannot implement all the functions that a customer wants.

In the past, it was common for companies to build and operate virtualization as a private cloud. However, there is currently an increasing demand to build a customized cloud infrastructure to fit the company's environment. Accordingly, the introduction of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud is spreading.

In response to these market changes, KT will launch the 'VMware on KT Cloud' service in November. VMware's virtualization solution has been dominant in the market for a long time and has been proven for its stability and convenience, but it has limitations as a private cloud solution. With the launch of this 'VMware on KT Cloud' service, companies can use the VMware platform in KT's public cloud environment.

In addition, it can be easily integrated with existing private cloud systems, enabling hybrid use. In the early stages of introduction, it is possible to use the same-sized infrastructure at less than half the cost of general virtualization construction. In addition, it is expected that the total cost of ownership (TCO) will be reduced as it is possible to respond quickly to rapidly changing business changes.

KT's Corporate Service Division Director Lee Jin-woo said, "As customers' business types and needs diversify, the cloud market is moving toward multi-cloud as a trend. KT said, “Through the launch of the first VMware Cloud service in Korea, we hope to conquer the multi-cloud market and help corporate customers maximize the efficiency and economy of their IT infrastructure,” and added, “As the number one cloud service provider in Korea, we will continue to strengthen cloud services suitable for the corporate market based on KT’s know-how.”
