LGE Announces Continued Smartphone Support After Withdrawal
3 years of support for premium models, 2 years for some popular models
LG Pay to be maintained until at least 2024 after business closure LG Electronics, which has officially withdrawn from the mobile phone business, has decided to maintain OS upgrades, A/S, and LG Pay services for existing customers for up to four years. In addition, it plans to produce mobile phones until the end of May so that it can supply products promised to business partners such as telecommunications companies.

LG Electronics announced on the 8th that it will extend the existing mobile phone operating system (OS) upgrade support period by one year each from two years for premium models and one year for some entry-level models, to three years for premium models and two years for some entry-level models. Accordingly, the LG Velvet and LG Wing, which were released last year, will be eligible for OS upgrades until 2023.
The OS upgrade target models will be applied to some models released after 2019, and will be announced on the LG Electronics website. OS upgrade support may vary depending on Google’s OS distribution schedule, product performance, product stabilization level, etc.
In order to take full responsibility for the products sold, LG Electronics decided to do its utmost to provide after-sales service and parts supply in accordance with the standards and laws of each country in the global market even after the business is terminated. In Korea, mobile phone A/S is supported for 4 years from the final manufacturing date of the product, and you can use approximately 120 service centers nationwide as before.
LG Pay, a simple payment service, will also be maintained for at least three years after the business is terminated.
