KT announced on April 30 that it will be introducing a 'Corporate 5G' service, a 5G service exclusively for B2B.

5G for business is a service that allows access to general networks and internal corporate networks by separating them through separate network equipment. The core of the service is to separate the general communication network for individual subscribers and the internal corporate network access data for employees through a dedicated 5G gateway for business. Since only terminals that have passed authentication are allowed to access, security incidents such as hacking can be prevented. The strength of 5G for business is that it can be used anywhere in the country without separate construction costs or application installation.

Compared to the 'Enterprise LTE' launched in 2016, enterprise-only 5G not only provides high-quality data with ultra-high speeds and ultra-low latency, but also has the added function of allowing companies to select speed control (QoS; Quality Of Service) from 3 to 20 Mbps per line to suit their needs. For example, corporate customers controlling IoT terminals such as traffic signal control and temperature and humidity measurement can select a speed control option of 3 Mbps, while media corporate customers requiring drone filming and video transmission can select a speed control option of 10 to 20 Mbps.

The rate plan consists of 10 types from 300GB to 200TB depending on the amount of data provided, and 100TB and 200TB rate plans that were not available in the corporate LTE service have been newly added. The corporate 5G provides 100TB data at a discount of approximately 75% compared to the regular usage price (based on 5G data charging).

In addition, KT plans to build enterprise edge communication centers in Seoul and Busan to quickly process large-capacity traffic in the 5G era. Since data traffic of local users can be processed locally without being transmitted to the metropolitan communication center, delays in data processing will be greatly reduced. KT built one enterprise edge communication center in Seoul in early April and plans to build additional edge communication centers in Busan and other cities in the future.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, the first corporate 5G subscriber, and KT have been continuing their collaboration to expand smart factories. Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to quickly identify and resolve problems that arise at production sites through AR glasses and intelligent CCTVs connected to the 5G network. It also plans to apply various 5G-based solutions, such as transmitting real-time images of the shipyard site to the control center without any blind spots through a neckband-type 360-degree camera worn around the necks of safety personnel. In addition, logistics delivery company Selim SL has also applied corporate 5G to its mobile app-based logistics delivery system.

Enterprise-only 5G services can be utilized not only in manufacturing but also in the medical, distribution, broadcasting, and other media fields. In particular, in the distribution sector, 5G networks can be applied to unmanned transport vehicles and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in logistics centers to automate warehouse management. In addition, in the broadcasting industry, ultra-high definition (UHD) video can be transmitted with minimal delay through a 5G network dedicated to broadcasters that is separate from the general network.

KT 5G Business Division Head Executive Director Park Hyun-jin said, “KT’s corporate 5G service is a service that can provide customized communication value to various corporate customers,” and “Based on the corporate 5G service, we will enable 5G to spread to various industrial sites such as manufacturing, distribution, media, and healthcare.”
