KT는 현대중공업지주와 5G 기반 로봇·스마트팩토리 사업 공동 협력을 위한 MOU를 체결했다. 이번 업무 협약 체결은 그간의 협업을 구체화 한 것으로 5G 커넥티드 로봇 개발, 서비스 로봇 개발, 스마트팩토리 플랫폼의 공동 개발, 머신비전 및 AI 분야 공동 R&D, 공동 개발 솔루션의 상품화 및 공동 영업 추진을 주요 내용으로 한다. 양사는 이번 협력을 통해 스마트팩토리 시장을 함께 개척하고 글로벌시장까지 사업을 확대하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. KT는 5G, AI, Cloud 등 통신 인프라와 ICT 플랫폼을 제공하고, 현대중공업지주는 로봇, 자동화 설비 및 스마트팩토리 플랫폼을 제공하여 5G 기반 스마트팩토리 솔루션 개발에 협력할 예정이다.

| Goal of jointly developing domestic market and expanding business in global market KT announced on the 12th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) for 'joint cooperation in 5G-based robot and smart factory business' with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings at the KT Gwanghwamun East Building on the 10th.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings is the holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and operates the robot business division (Hyundai Robotics) with the largest domestic market share. In addition to the industrial robot-based system business, it also owns automation systems and a smart factory platform (HiFactoy).
KT announced that it is working closely with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings and Hyundai Heavy Industries Group through 'MWC19' in February and '2019 Smart Factory Automation Industry Exhibition' in March.
This business agreement is the concretization of previous collaboration, and its main contents include ▲development of 5G connected robots ▲development of service robots (hotel, coffee robots, etc.) ▲joint development of smart factory platforms ▲joint R&D in machine vision and AI ▲commercialization of jointly developed solutions and joint sales promotion.
Through this collaboration, the two companies willOur goal is to pioneer the Tfactory market together and expand our business to the global market.
KT will provide communication infrastructure and ICT platforms such as 5G, AI, and Cloud, and Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings will provide robots, automated facilities, and smart factory platforms to cooperate in the development of 5G-based smart factory solutions.
KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu said, “We consider smart factories to be a key sector of the 5G B2B market, and if Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings’ excellent robot technology and know-how are combined, I believe we will be able to bring about innovation in the Korean manufacturing industry in a short period of time.” He added, “We look forward to continuing our business cooperation in the future with our jointly developed 5G and AI-based smart robots and smart factory solutions.”
Kwon Oh-gap, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, said, “We will develop robots and smart factory solutions that lead the global market together with KT,” and “I hope that this collaboration will be an opportunity to elevate the level and status of Korean manufacturing to the next level.”
Meanwhile, on the 3rd of this month, KT signed an MOU with Yudo Group and Studio 3S Korea for joint development of 5G-based smart factory solutions, and on the 7th, it announced that it would cooperate with Samsung SDS and Shinsung E&G for commercialization of 5G smart factories and IIoT.
