2024 Korea Metaverse Festival to be held on the 17th
A domestic metaverse festival will be held where you can learn about the latest trends in the metaverse industry, examine cases of metaverse technology application in various industries, and confirm the future direction of the metaverse industry.
The Korea Metaverse Industry Association announced on the 10th that the '2024 Korea Metaverse Festival' (hereinafter referred to as KMF 2024) will be held for three days from the 17th to the 19th at the Yangjae aT Center.
'KMF 2024', now in its 9th year, is the largest festival of the metaverse industry in Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Korea Metaverse Industry Association. Starting with the opening ceremony with the catchphrase 'Metaverse, adding wings to convergence!', various events related to the metaverse week event, including the metaverse exhibition and global metaverse conference, will also be held.
The opening ceremony will be held on the main stage on the first floor of the exhibition hall from 10:30 AM on the 17th. The opening ceremony will feature an immersive metaverse production using a large LED wall (12mx3m).
Starting with the policy announcement by the Ministry of Science and ICT, it consists of a total of four sessions including OS ecosystem, entertainment, education, and industrial metaverse. In each session, a representative moderator will conduct a panel talk show in addition to a lecture to further increase the understanding of the audience.
The Metaverse Exhibition consists of 300 booths from 158 leading companies in the industry. The first exhibition hall consists of leading companies and theme halls focused on B2B, and a public experience hall for B2C, while the second exhibition hall is centered around the Governance Hall and Joint Hall, sharing various policy support, technology development results, etc.
The 'Leading Companies/Theme Hall', which focuses on the businesses of participating companies, will feature 'Calibus', an ultra-realistic metaverse platform that was launched globally last August. This platform, which was unveiled at 'CES 2024' earlier this year and received favorable reviews for its ultra-realistic graphics and unique interaction technology, is expected to stand out in various fields such as shopping, entertainment, and community.
In addition, companies with convergence technologies and content such as digital twins, such as Davio, Simsreality, NovaTech, Kotax, and Thepixt, will also participate, allowing visitors to see evolving industrial metaverse solutions in one place.
In addition, the Metaverse Week will feature the 2024 GMC-Bridge (International Metaverse Conference), which will help secure industry insights and promote networking between key players, the Metaverse Alliance Division Integration Open Seminar, the K-Hackathon Finals, the Metaverse Developer Competition Awards Ceremony, the Metaverse R&D Technology Exchange Meeting, and the Hologram Technology Exchange Meeting. It is expected to be an opportunity to share various achievements and strengthen cooperation in the industry.
Choi Yong-gi, executive vice chairman of the Korea Metaverse Industry Association, said, “The ‘Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act,’ the first in the world, went into effect this August, and the ‘Virtual Convergence Industry Basic Plan’ will be prepared and announced within the year.” He added, “‘KMF 2024’ and ‘The MEANS 2024,’ where various experts and companies from Korea and abroad have gathered, will be important opportunities to look ahead to the present and future of the virtual convergence industry and explore various business models and strategies.”
