Intel's new processors, designed to power large-scale, high-performance AI on PCs, feature 'Intel Iris Plus graphics' for entertainment performance. It also supports 'Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+)' and up to four 'Thunderbolt 3' ports.

A majority of PC OEMs are expected to introduce systems using Intel's new processors by the end of this year.

The 10th Gen Intel Core processors are designed to power AI capabilities in laptops and 2-in-1s. Intel Deep Learning Boost is a new set of dedicated instructions that accelerate neural networks on the CPU, maximizing responsiveness in scenarios like automatic image enhancement, photo indexing, and photorealistic effects. Up to 1 teraflop of GPU engine compute supports persistent, high-bandwidth inference applications like video design and analytics, and real-time video resolution upscaling.

Additionally, the 'Intel Gaussian & Neural Accelerator (GNA)' is a dedicated engine for background workloads such as voice processing and noise suppression and operates at ultra-low power to maintain maximum battery life.

Graphics performance has also been improved. 10th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Plus graphics enable high-level content creation on laptops, including 1080p gaming, 4K video editing, fast application of video filters, and high-resolution photo processing.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics, an integrated GPU based on Intel Gen 11 graphics architecture, is Intel’s first GPU to support VESA’s Adaptive Sync display standard. It also integrates variable rate shading to improve rendering performance. It also supports the BT.2020 specification, allowing you to watch 4K HDR video with 1 billion colors.

Intel has introduced a new processor numbering structure along with the announcement of its 10th generation Intel Core processors.

The codenamed Ice Lake processor being announced this time is the first product to be released in the 10th generation Intel Core processor family. At Computex 2019 in May, Intel gave a sneak peek of some of the first systems coming to market through its innovation program, Project Athena.

These include the Acer Swift 5, Dell XPS 13-inch 2-in-1, HP Envy 13-inch, and Lenovo S940.

Intel is set to announce additional products in its 10th generation Intel Core mobile processor family.

Upcoming processors will include the flagship business-grade ‘Intel vPro platform’, delivering enhanced productivity and performance scaling for demanding multi-threaded workloads.

More details will be announced in late August.

“The 10th Gen Intel Core processor will shift the paradigm of what leadership means on a notebook PC platform,” said Chris Walker, Intel vice president and general manager of mobility client platforms in the Client Computing Group.
