Lowering the threshold for switching to 32-bit devices
IAR Embedded Workbench supports the STM32 MCU series, accelerating the transition to cost-competitive 32-bit devices.
IAR, a global provider of embedded development software and services and an official STMicroelectronics Partner, today announced that its IAR Embedded Workbench® for Arm® now supports ST’s new STM32C0 microcontrollers (MCUs).
The STM32C0 MCU series is a new family of microcontrollers that ST has expanded to its popular STM32 series, making 32-bit functionality available at low cost to all embedded developers.
IAR Embedded Workbench® for Arm® provides powerful features and extensive debugging and analysis capabilities to help developers build optimized and compact code.
Along with this, IAR and STMicroelectronics are lowering the threshold for embedded developers using 8-bit or 16-bit MCUs to move to cost-competitive 32-bit devices.
Embedded systems developers worldwide value IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm for its advanced code optimization techniques and comprehensive debugging capabilities.
This toolset helps you ensure that your application is fast, efficient, and compact enough.
br /> Additionally, integrated static and runtime code analysis tools ensure excellent code quality, long-term maintainability, and portability of embedded software.
The new STM32C0, the most affordable member of ST’s 32-bit MCU series, targets applications that are typically designed around simpler 8-bit or 16-bit MCUs, such as home appliances, industrial pumps, fans, and smoke detectors.
The latest 32-bit design of the STM32C0 delivers improved features such as faster response, more functionality, and network connectivity at a similar overall price and power consumption.
STM32C0 devices allow easy migration to the STM32G0 series for more demanding projects, while sharing a consistent pinout.
IAR enables easy migration of application software within a single, professional integrated development environment (IDE).
IAR’s solutions are fully integrated into the STM32 ecosystem. All software resources available for the STM32C0 series, such as the STM32CubeMX configuration tool, Microsoft Azure real-time operating system (RTOS), and STM32CubeC0 MCU package, are fully tested and compatible with IAR Development Solutions.
IAR Embedded Workbench supports the ready-to-use STM32C0 Nucleo (NUCLEO-C031C6) low-cost development board and two STM32C0 Discovery Kits (STM32C0116-DK and STM32C0316-DK).
“The new STM32C0 general-purpose, entry-level microcontrollers provide a compelling alternative to established 8-bit/16-bit solutions, offering many advanced features. As an integral part of the extensive and powerful STM32 ecosystem, IAR is here to help developers enhance and optimize their designs,” said Pierre Charvet, STM32 product line marketing manager at STMicroelectronics. “With IAR Embedded Workbench, IAR is helping new users ease the entry into the 32-bit world, accelerate time-to-market, and meet tight budgets.”
