The MCX W Series is a compact, secure, wireless MCU that supports interoperability, scalability, and innovative design for the next generation of smart, secure connected devices used in edge, IoT, smart home, building automation and control, and smart energy applications.

The NXP Semiconductors MCX W Series, available at Mouser, is a pin-compatible line of multiprotocol wireless MCUs based on the Arm® Cortex®-M33 core that supports Matter™, Thread®, Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth® Low Energy), and Zigbee®.

The MCX W series also includes the industry’s first wireless MCUs to support the new Bluetooth Channel Sounding standard, which improves on existing Bluetooth technology.

The Bluetooth Channel Sounding standard provides improved ranging accuracy and security capabilities over existing Bluetooth technology for a variety of applications, including secure access, asset tracking, and indoor navigation.
br /> Additionally, the MCX W series, together with NXP’s Trimension® portfolio of ultra-wideband (UWB) security radar and precision ranging products, strengthens a broad range of markets and applications in ambient computing environments.

The MCX W Series supports both standalone or hosted architectures and is pin- and software-compatible, allowing developers to easily migrate to the best product for their use case.

The MCX W series is supported by the MCUXpresso Developer Experience toolset.

NXP’s FRDM-MCXW71 development board is also available from Mouser. The FRDM-MCXW71 is a compact, scalable multiprotocol board that enables rapid prototyping and easy evaluation of the MCXW71 wireless MCU, with wireless support for Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter.

The board includes an onboard MCU-Link debugger and industry-standard headers for easy access to the MCU's I/O, accelerometer, light sensor, and external SPI flash memory.
