Wi-Fi 6·BLE 5.4 integrated single chip
Mouser Electronics, the leader in New Product Introduction (NPI) innovation, today announced that it is now stocking the SiWx917 Wi-Fi® 6 and BLE 5.4 integrated wireless system-on-chip (SoC) from Silicon Labs.
The SiWx917 is an ultra-low-power Wi-Fi 6 SoC designed specifically for battery-powered, low-power wireless Internet of Things (IoT) devices, integrating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Matter, and IP networking capabilities for secure cloud connectivity.
Available from Mouser, Silicon Labs’ SiWx917 SoCs comprise an ultra-low-power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) 5.4 wireless CPU subsystem, along with an integrated microcontroller (MCU) application subsystem, hardened security engine, peripherals and power management subsystem.
The SoC supports the Matter over Wi-Fi standard and Wi-Fi 6’s Target Wake Time (TWI) feature to extend battery life in devices that need to operate for multiple years, such as smart sensors and smart locks.
Matter is a general software layer and new connectivity standard for IoT devices. The SiWx917 with Matter support helps significantly extend battery life and reduce energy consumption in Wi-Fi IoT networks.
It also provides powerful compute performance, fast artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) acceleration, and robust security features to run all wireless stacks and multiple applications on a single chip.
At the heart of the SiWx917’s application subsystem is a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M4F core running at up to 180 MHz, along with embedded SRAM, flash, AI/ML accelerators, and a Sensor Hub for peripherals and application-related processing.
This Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE 5.4 radio CPU subsystem includes baseband digital signal processing and an analog front end (AFE), a 2.4 GHz RF transceiver, and an integrated power amplifier, and consists of a multi-threaded processor (ThreadArch®) designed to run the radio and network stacks as independent threads.
SiWx917 delivers higher bandwidth and improved network efficiency even in congested environments with features such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, and BSS Coloring. In terms of security, it provides Secure Boot, Secure Trust Zone, and Secure XIP, and supports PSA-L2 (PSA Level 2) certification.
The SiWx917 wireless SoC is available as a single chip in an 84-pin QFN package measuring 7 mm x 7 mm x 0.85 mm and can be controlled via USART, UART, SPI, SIO, I2C, and I2S interfaces.
The SoC is ideally suited for battery-powered devices such as smart home, consumer healthcare and wearables, medical, industrial, retail, smart buildings and cities, and asset tracking. The ultra-low-power SiWx917 SoC is supported by the Si917-PK6031A Pro Kit, also available at Mouser.
